Objective To conduct a visualization analysis based on Citespace on the current research status, hotspots, and trends of acupuncture combined with other therapies for post-stroke dysphagia. Methods Chinese literature on acupuncture combined with other therapies for post-stroke dysphagia was retrieved from China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang Data Knowledge Service Platform and VIP Chinese Journal Service Platform. The retrieval period was from January 1996 to June 2025. CiteSpace 6.3.R1 software was used to analyze annual publication volume, keyword co-occurrence, clustering, burst, timeline, time zone, as well as author and institution co-occurrence. Results A total of 1 957 articles were included. The annual publication volume of relevant studies on acupuncture combined with other therapies for post-stroke dysphagia showed an upward trend from 1996 to 2025. Feng Weixing was the author with the most publications, and the closely cooperative research team was the one led by Han Jingxian. The top three institutions in terms of publication number were the First Affiliated Hospital of Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (27 articles), Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine (22 articles), and Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (20 articles). Among the keywords, cerebral stroke showed the highest frequency, followed by dysphagia, acupuncture, and rehabilitation therapy. Keyword clustering could be categorized into three major fields: traditional Chinese medicine rehabilitation, modern rehabilitation, and clinical research. Emerging keywords included swallowing function, quality of life, and nutritional status. Conclusion Research in China on acupuncture combined with other therapies for post-stroke dysphagia has entered a mature development stage, but inter-institutional collaboration remains limited. Research hotspots focus on acupuncture combined with swallowing training and electrical stimulation, among others, and attention to swallowing function, quality of life, and nutritional status has increased in recent years. Future research should further promote clinical studies and conduct basic research to deeply explore the mechanism of this therapeutic regimen.
